Welcome to the PGRSTP

The Postgraduate Research Training Programme (PGRSTP) is a comprehensive suite of workshops coordinated by EDU and specifically designed for new PhD students. Our goal is to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to thrive in your PhD journey and beyond, including:

  • understanding research ethics: learn the principles and practices of conducting ethical research, ensuring integrity and adherence to ethical guidelines;
  • maintaining professional relationships: develop skills to build and sustain professional relationships with peers, supervisors, and the wider academic community;
  • research approaches: gain insights into various research methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, to better understand and select the most appropriate methods for your research; and
  • other essential knowledge: acquire a broad range of other knowledge that is vital for successful research and academic development.

Networking opportunities

Beyond skill development, the PGRSTP offers an excellent opportunity for networking. Engage with fellow PhD students from diverse disciplines, fostering a supportive community and collaborative spirit. Additionally, you will have the chance to interact with a variety of PhD supervisors from different Schools within the University, broadening your academic and professional network.

The PGRSTP runs each semester with a detailed schedule released at the beginning of the semester. This schedule outlines all the workshops and events planned, allowing you to plan and make the most of these opportunities.
