We believe that education is the answer to the main challenges facing this planet, as addressed through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, to effectively respond to these challenges, we also believe that education will have to innovate and find new ways of empowering lifelong learners to be prepared to address them, for themselves, but also for their communities and, at the most expansive level, as global citizens committed to the planet’s wellbeing. Educational innovation requires a strategic vision and strategic leadership.
At XJTLU, we want to be part of the solution through research. Therefore, we have been catalysts of an ambitious research agenda that, along with us, attempts to research and develop educational innovations, and the role that strategic leadership plays in that regard. This can be technological innovations, including AI, but goes much further than this. We have particular interests in specific innovations, such as socio-emotional learning or the unique contributions women can make to educational innovations (female leadership) in a bid to innovate leadership as well as how leadership can foster innovation.
Through implementing this agenda, we intend to provide answers as to how we can lead the way to provide quality education for all, through innovation. If you would like to contribute to this agenda, please view our call for mini-grants.
