Prof. Felipe M. de Leon, Jr., Chairman of National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) donated cultural materials to the Library of Research School for Southeast Asian Studies
On December 9th 2016, Prof. Felipe M. de Leon, Jr., Chairman of National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) of the Philippines, paid a friendly visit to our School – the Research School for Southeast Asian Studies in Xiamen University. He was accompanied by Mr. Julius Ceusar Aragon Flores, the Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Xiamen and his entourage. After giving a lecture titled What Makes Filipino A Filipino, Prof. Felipe M. de Leon, Jr., donated two sets of NCCA’s Dayaw, each has two pieces of DVD, and 14 books on Philippine culture and music to the library of our school. These elaborately selected cultural materials will substantially contribute to help readers to learn more about the culture and arts of the Philippines.
It is a great privilege for our library to have received such wonderful presents from Prof. Felipe M. de Leon, Jr., who is also a famous musician. We would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to Prof. Felipe M. de Leon, Jr. and Mr. Consul General for their support. We also hope to continue to keep a friendly relationship with the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Xiamen to further academic understanding of the colorful Philippines.
