The BA Accounting programme at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University provides you with a comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles in practical applications. You will develop the necessary skills and analytical expertise for a successful career in accountancy, be it in industry or the public sector.

Beyond merely cutting costs and managing transactions, the accounting programme at XJTLU emphasises ethical decision-making and its role in fostering accountability, benefiting both businesses and society. The programme offers a unique blend of research-based and professionally accredited knowledge, equipping you with the insights needed to comprehend the financial drivers behind leadership, planning, strategy, governance, and ethics. By immersing yourself in XJTLU’s distinctive learning environment, you will understand the accounting practices in both the UK and China. Our programme also provides you with the opportunity to secure exemptions from professional accounting and management accounting bodies. Upon completion of specific modules, graduates can claim up to nine exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), eight exemptions from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), eight exemptions from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and six exemptions from the Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia).

By the time you graduate from the BA Accounting, you will have:

  • a solid understanding of the knowledge required for effective financial accounting, management accounting, financial management, data analytics, auditing, and taxation. Through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, computer labs, and selected optional modules, you will acquire knowledge, techniques and skills highly sought after by employers;
  • the ability to apply accounting and finance-related knowledge and analytical skill in organisational contexts. This includes day-to-day operation management, cost control, business problem solving, risk assessment and control, strategy formulation, and strategic decision making; and
  • the opportunity to engage in in-depth, independent case studies to put theory into practice. This will give you the chance to develop essential employability skills in research, critical thinking, time management, communication, and IT.
