On May 21st, Xu Bu, Director of Institute of Global Development and Security Studies of Jiangsu University and a member of the High-Level Advisory Committee (HLAC) of the Secretary General of the United Nations, was invited to a seminar on the United Nations at Fudan University. He participated in the discussion on the topic of global governance and construction of multilateral mechanisms. He also shared his views on the future United Nations summit. The seminar was presided by Professor Su Changhe, Dean of School of International Relations & Public Affairs at Fudan University.
Director Xu first welcomed Director of the UNU Centre for Policy Research (NUN-CRP) David Passarelli for his visit to China and the exchange of views with Chinese scholars on issues related to strengthening the role of the United Nations. Director Xu introduced the work of the UN Secretary-General's High-Level Advisory Committee on Multilateralism (HLAC). He expressed the hope that the Global Future Summit convened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during this year's United Nations General Assembly would achieve tangible results and that the United Nations would truly play a central role in international affairs and take the lead in promoting global development, peace and stability.
