Teaching without research is superficial, and research without teaching is empty. In order to further explore the teacher education accreditation standard system and promote the accreditation of English teacher education courses, the Department of English successfully held a special teaching and research activity on May 22nd with the theme of ‘Interpretation of Standards and Discussion on the Determination of Teacher Education Courses and Practice Credits’. English Department Director Mao Yanfeng presided the activity, and Executive of English Education Major Li Xia gave the presentation. All teachers from the English Department attended the activity and had a lively discussion. Besides, Teaching Affairs Department supervisors Mao Haiyan, Tao Minghua and Ma Hanwu conducted on-site guidance.
Director Mao first warmly welcomed the steering group and introduced the purpose and significance of this activity.
Executive Li Xia introduced the main contents and structure of Secondary School Teachers’ Professional Standards based on the standard index system of teacher education accreditation in detail. She deeply analyzed the standards of teacher education courses, and solicited the opinions of the steering group and the teachers on the determination of teacher education courses and practice credits for the English Education major of the School.
The steering group and all teachers discussed in detail the current problems and challenges in relation to the teacher education courses and practice credits. The atmosphere was lively and a number of useful revisions and suggestions were pulled together.
This teaching and research activity is problem-oriented and focuses on the students’ development. Its aim is to continuously improve the English Education Major and it will play an important role in the ongoing preparation for the accreditation of English Education Major and the upcoming revision of the 2024 Cultivation Scheme for Application-oriented Undergraduates.
