Professor Kesavadas, Founder and Director of Health Care Engineering Systems Center of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), delivered an academic lecture entitled Innovating Robotic Surgery and Education Through Virtual Reality for teachers and students in Control Engineering College in Room 108 of Information Building. The lecture was hosted by Vice Dean Jiang Tao and Professor Li Yao from International Joint Research Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems who interpreted for the lecture, with the attendance of all the teachers and graduate students from Control Engineering College.
Professor Kesavadas introduced the history of University Of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, main achievements of the Health Care Engineering Systems Center, and how his research team conducted innovation work on robot operation and medical education training using virtual reality technology from detailed explanations on biological information sensing, modeling, simulation and so on. Great interest was aroused among the teachers, and everyone participated in a heated discussion about some frontier issues discussed in the lecture, hoping more in-depth cooperation and communication on education and scientific research would be developed between two sides.
