An exchange meeting on cooperation between the School of Foreign Studies (SFS) and the Global Health Institute (GHI) of XJTU was successfully held at the Hanying Building in iHarbour on the afternoon of December 7, 2023. Wang Youfa, dean of GHI, Chen Xiangjing, dean of SFS, Wang Hua, Li Ying, vice deans of SFS, Wu Qian, head of Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of School of Public Health (SPH), and He Li, director of Center for Social Computing (CSC) of School of Humanities and Social Science, as well as over 20 faculties from SFS and GHI attended the meeting.
Professor Wang Youfa introduced the scientific research and international cooperation programs conducted by GHI, as well as the contributions GHI has made to support global health, national development and social needs. He expressed his hope that both parties would strengthen exchanges and cooperation in talent development, scientific research and international cooperation.
Professor Chen Xiangjing introduced the history, departments, faculty team, achievements in discipline development, and distinctive research directions of the SFS. She also expressed her expectations on better communication and more achievements of the two parties in joint talent cultivation, research cooperation and social services.
Professor Wang Hua introduced the application for national key R&D projects in SFS, while Professor He Li shared his research explorations in spatial social computing. Ji Le, director of the Education Center for Masters of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) of SFS, introduced the programs for MTI education. Other young teachers also shared research and projects of their teams.
The meeting enhanced the mutual understanding between GHI and SFS, and both sides reached a consensus on cooperation in talent cultivation, scientific research, international exchanges and social services, which laid a solid foundation for in-depth cooperation in the future.
