On December 6, 2023, a team of five teachers from School of Foreign Studies (SFS) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) won a grand prize in the national final of the 2023 "Star Teacher Contest" organized by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP).

The theme of the 2023 "Star Teacher Contest" was "Digital Empowerment, Innovative Education". In the national final, the XJTU team made full use of the digital teaching platform and resources to design teaching activities, so as to facilitate learning efficiency and effectiveness. On behalf of XJTU team, Gao Yang first presented the overall teaching plan and introduced the production-oriented approach (POA), teaching principles, and implementation of digital technology in the whole teaching process. Then Lu Yanhua conducted a 10-minute classroom teaching demonstration. With the teaching materials of the unit “Telling the Story of Chinese Tea to the World”, the team integrated language teaching and humanistic goals, guiding students to boost their cultural confidence. Their outstanding performance was recognized by the judges and the audience, and ultimately achieved the third place (a grand prize) in the final.

The "Star Teacher Contest" organized by FLTRP, started in 2013, has gained widespread recognition and participation in the field of foreign language education in Chinese universities. This year, there were 700 registered teams and over 3,000 teachers participating in the preliminary round.
