In January 5, 2017, the first BEBC Annual Academic Conference was held in the 308 lecture hall of the School of Life Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiao Tong University. The meeting lasted for a whole day including the teacher report and the student report. All the teachers and students of BEBC attended the meeting.

At 8:20 in the morning, the meeting started on time. Professor Feng Xu, the director of BEBC, gave us the opening report titled as “The past, present and future of BEBC”. He started from sharing his own education and research experience. "I hope that each of our students here knows the history of the center. This is how we are and what we are. " After that, he introduced the main research projects, members and research results of BEBC, and reviewed the important events of 2016 together. Xu said, under the direction of the national "Three orientations", we have to think about how to influent the world positively. We BEBCers not only need to "live well", but also "live longer". The future of BEBC needs the joint efforts of all members.

After that, other teachers in the center introduced their own research systematically. Teacher Xiaohui Zhang teacher gave an report on Electronspun Silk Scaffolds for Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering. Teacher Min Lin Min introduced the related research on rare earth upconversion fluorescent nano materials. Teacher Guorui Jin introduced the preparation and application of molecular imaging probes. Teacher Xiayu Xu introduced the application of image processing in early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. The afternoon of the report, teacher Guoyou Huang introduced the vitro tissue models and cell microenvironment with hydrogels. Teacher Qingzhen Yang introduced the preparation of organ chip. Teacher Yuhui Li introduced the construction of cell mechanical microenvironment in vitro., Dr. Ruofan Cao showed the application of fluorescence lifetime type flow cytometry. Among them, teacher Fei Li and Yufei Ma were at abroad and they have given the reports by the video on scanning microscopy and the application of bio printing in periodontal tissue regeneration, separately.

In student report part, Ph.D. students Jie Hu and Moxiao Li also made some wonderful speeches. Jie gave a detailed introduction to the background and recent research progress of paper based biosensors. Then, he shared his PhD research and experience with all the students and hoped everyone to have faith and persistence when doing research. Moxiao Li showed the audients “How I struggling in 2016”, encouraging them to learn how to have a good cooperation with others and keep a positive attitude towards the life.  

BEBC Annual Academic Conference is a chance to let every member of BEBC get the knowledge of our scientific researches and have deep discussion of every aspects of the center. Hope BEBC will be thriving and growing in 2017!
