On May 27th, Xu Bu, Director of Institute of Global Development and Security Studies of Jiangsu University, was invited to deliver an academic lecture entitled ‘Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and Major Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics’ to the faculty and students of School of Foreign Languages in the library lecture hall. Dean Li Chongyue presided the lecture and there were about 180 members in attendance. Xie Linxiang, vice chairman of Zhenjiang Federation of Social Sciences Circles, as well as leaders and researchers from Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, Overseas Education College, School of Management, School of Finance and Economics attended the lecture.
Director Xu made an in-depth analysis of the key arguments on the international situation and China's foreign policy at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He explained the historical orientation of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era in the profound changes unseen in a century, elaborated on the profound connotations of Xi Jinping Thought on Foreign Affairs. Besides, he also analyzed China-US relations in depth and triggered a lively discussion and profound reflection among the teachers and students.
This lecture is one of the series of lectures to enhance academic research skills at School of Foreign Languages. Through Director Xu’s detailed explanation, teachers and students have gained a more comprehensive understanding and awareness of China's foreign policy and international relations, which will help deepen the development of Regional Studies in the School. Besides, it can not only help to raise the teachers and students’ academic research level, but also to broaden their international perspectives. In the future, the School of Foreign Languages will continue to organize similar academic activities to provide more learning and exchange opportunities for teachers and students, to contribute to cultivate high-quality talents with global vision and innovation ability.
