On the afternoon of April 9th, in order to promote the certification of English teacher education major, the School of Foreign Languages invited Professor Jiang Junming, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism, to share his practice and experience of getting prepared for teacher education certification. Vice Dean Li Xia, Head of the Teacher Education Department, Mao Yanfeng, Head of the English Department, Wang Linzhi, and key teachers attended the lecture, which was chaired by Vice Dean Li Jiajun.
Dean Jiang explained the relevant work required for teacher education major certification from three aspects: the general situation of major certification, the preparation work before applying for certification, and the key work related to major construction. Dean Jiang pointed out that we should grasp the concept of teacher education major certification, which is "student-centered, output-oriented, and continuous improvement", and carry out work around "one practice, three learnings, main line, and bottom line". We should closely focus on the core "main line" of graduation requirements, do a good job in reverse design and forward construction, solidly grasp the "bottom line" work, establish an output-oriented teaching evaluation mechanism and a continuous evaluation-based teaching quality improvement mechanism .
Dean Jiang further shared the certification process, prerequisites, significance, team building, etc., and guided the specific work to be carried out at present. Finally, he introduced their School of Marxism’s major construction experience from two aspects: practical and comprehensive.
Getting prepared for the certification of teacher education major, one of this year’s key tasks concerning teaching affairs in School of Foreign Languages, is an important measure to strengthen the major construction of the School of Foreign Languages. The School held a kickoff meeting for the certification of teacher education major in the early stage, and organized the English teachers to study the second level standards of teacher education major certification seriously, and to understand the system and concept of teacher education major certification from a conceptual perspective. On the basis of research, the School of Foreign Languages will further promote the certification, do a good job in major construction, improve the quality of teacher education, and make every effort to get well prepared for the certification.
