本课程是环境工程专业的主干课程之一，课程的指导思想是以基本原理为指导，理论与实验、实践相结合，以工程应用为背景，着重培养学生分析问题和解决问题的能力。本课程重点讲授固体废物管理的基本原理及其典型技术，其内容既包括对固体废物进行管理和污染控制的处理处置技术，也包括对固体废物作为可再生资源进行利用的各类资源化技术，课程在内容设置上充分体现基础理论和工程实践相结合的特点，同时为适应国际化发展和培养高水平管理人才的需要，尽量融入国际上先进的固体废物管理理念和前瞻性的处理处置技术，以此培养学生从事固体废物管理和技术工作所需的基本素质、国际化视野和高水平技能。

This course mainly introduces the basic principles and concepts of solid waste management, and also involves main techniques and basic process of solid waste treatment and disposal. The purpose of this course is to help students understand the integrated process of solid waste management, master the methods of research and apply of the solid waste treatment and disposal, and get basic abilities and skills for works on solid waste management and techniques. Based on basic principles, this course combines the theory and practice, and takes engineering application as the background. The abilities of analyzing and solving problems of students can be highly improved through this course.
