From April 12 to 15, the 7th National Youth Academic Conference on Magnesium Alloys was held at the International Academic Exchange Center of the NEU. The conference was co-sponsored by the NEU, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and National Magnesium Alloy Youth Work Committee. Prof. Zhiqiang Zhang, Key Laboratory of Electromagnetic Process of Materials (EPM) of the Ministry of Education, NEU, and Prof. Daokui Xu, Research Fellow, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, co-chaired the conference. More than 500 experts and scholars from the field of magnesium and magnesium alloy at home and abroad and their counterparts from the business community attended the conference.
At this conference, Academician Enhou Han of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Huiyuan Wang, Vice President of Hebei University of Technology, Professor Liming Peng of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Bin Jiang of Chongqing University, and Professor Qiuming Peng of Yanshan University were specially invited to give keynote reports, and academic reports of 276 sessions were organized. The conference topics cover many aspects of magnesium alloy, including composition design and calculation, microstructure and characterization, deformation and toughening, preparation and processing, corrosion, as well as surface modification and biomedicine, magnesium-based functions and composite materials, engineering applications of magnesium alloy, dressing and smelting of magnesium resources, new magnesium materials and postgraduate innovation forums. Experts and scholars had extensive and in-depth exchanges at the conference site, and the atmosphere was warm. At the conference, rich cutting-edge achievements in the field of magnesium and magnesium alloy were showcased, and many key scientific and technical issues faced by the development and application of magnesium and magnesium alloy were discussed, to jointly expand the application fields of magnesium alloy and promot the high-quality development of magnesium alloy industry in China.
This conference has built a platform for the collision of ideas and academic exchanges for outstanding and young scholars in the field of magnesium alloy at home and abroad. At the same time, it has deepened young scholars’ comprehensive understanding of our university, promoted all-round and multi-field cooperation, enhanced the influence of our university, and helped the development of material disciplines, thus injecting new kinetic energy into the high-quality construction of “Double First-Class”.
