Application Form for Extension of Schooling Period for Undergraduates

Dear All Undergraduate Graduates of 2017:
The undergraduate graduation affairs for 2017 have officially begun. The University Head Office of Academic Affairs, Academic Affairs Office of each department, and the International Student Office, have started strict evaluation jointly towards each student’s academic progress and evaluation. In order to provide all undergraduates with better services and essential help from the university, the International Student Office is here kindly reminding all undergraduate graduates of 2017 to follow an extremely important notice regarding extension of schooling period as follows:
1、 Application of Schooling Period Extension
Graduates of 2017 who have completed all academic courses and received all credits are qualified to graduate. Graduates who have received more than 2/3 of total credits, are eligible for applying 1 year schooling extension. All applicants are requested to fill in the <Application Form for Extension of Schooling Period for Undergraduates> (Attachment 1). All applicants are requested to submit the above application form before 16:00, May 8, 2017. Those who applied for the extension are requested to complete full amount of tuition fee for the 2017/2018 academic year before June 30th, 2017. International Student Office will help students with residence permit extension accordingly.
Graduates who have earned less than 2/3 of total credits are not qualified to extend schooling period according to university regulation, and they will be given a study proof and transcript before quitting university.
2、 Regarding Returning Students with Certificates of Study Completion
Graduates who have earned more than 3/4 of total credits, or those who have received all credits but failed the defense of graduation thesis, will be able to complete their schooling and receive a Certificate of Study Completion from the university. Students with Certificate of Study Completion are able to come back as Returning Students to complete all remaining courses within the next 2 years. After completing all courses, they can apply for Graduation Certificates.
Returning students are requested to submit a personal written application and guarantee that they will come back to campus to make up all remaining courses from September, 2017, and obey Chinese law and university regulations during study period, Students are requested to buy insurance which is 300RMB per semester. International Student Office will help returning students who meet the above requirements extend resident permit expiring on January 31th, 2018.
3、Other Important Matters
1) According to Article 69 from the <Regulations of Academic Affairs for All Undergraduates of HUST>, due to academic problems, student who receives only a Graduation Certificate, is able to apply for a Degree Certificate after he/she makes up for all academic requirements during the same year of graduation. Therefore, graduates who do not receive Degree Certificate can only receive it when he/she completes the requirements before the end of same completion year (January 31st, 2018). However, if the student cannot complete all requirements before the end of same graduation year (January 31st, 2018), he/she will be faced with a reality of not being able to receive a Degree Certificate forever.
2) Students who fail to complete all required credits in regulated schooling period and still maintain study qualification in HUST, are eligible to apply for schooling extension for a maximum of 2 years.
3) All graduates of 2017 are suggested to log into HUB system immediately and check all marks carefully. If you are not being able to graduate in June 2017, please apply for the extension of schooling period in time. Any late application for extension will not be considered by the university.

关于受理2017届本科留学生毕业生延长学习期限申请的通知
致全体2017届本科留学生毕业生：
2017年全校本科留学生毕业生工作已正式启动。学校教务处、各院系本科教学负责人以及留学生办公室已正式为各位本科留学生毕业生进行严格的毕业资格审核。为做好本科留学生毕业生的毕业管理工作，现将本科留学生毕业生办理延长学习期限的有关事宜通知如下：
一、申请办理学习期限延长事宜
经学校资格审核，2017届本科毕业生，已修完各专业培养计划规定课程并获得全部学分的学生准予毕业。未修满所有学分，但超过培养计划总学分2/3的学生，可申请办理延长学习期限一年。申请者需认真填写《华中科技大学本科外国留学生延长学习期限审批表》(附件1)，并于2017年5月8日16:00之前提交国际教育学院。申请延长学习期限的学生必须于2017年6月30日之前足额缴纳下一学年的学费，留学生办公室将为其办理下一学年居留许可延长手续。
低于培养计划总学分2/3的学生，原则上不予延长学习期限，应办理退学手续并核发肄业证书离校。
二、结业学生事宜
未获得培养计划的全部学分，但修满培养计划总学分3/4以上的学生，或已获培养计划的全部学分但未通过毕业设计(论文)答辩的学生，准予结业，学校发给结业证书。结业生可在结业后两年内回校修读相关课程，获得相应学分并达到毕业条件者，可申请换发毕业证。
结业生需提交个人申请，承诺自2017年9月起返校重修课程，重修期间遵纪守法。学生必须按照学校规定自行购买保险，金额为每半年300元（http://www.lhgj.net/insurance/wszf/wszf_login.jsp）。留学生办公室统一为提交个人申请且已购买保险的结业生办理居留许可延长至2018年1月31日。
三、其他注意事项
1. 《华中科技大学普通本科生学籍管理细则》第六十九条规定，由于学业原因，获得毕业证书但未获得学士学位者，在毕业当年达到学士学位授予条件可向学校申请学士学位。因此未获得学士学位的本科留学生毕业生，最迟必须在当年秋季学期内(2018年1月31日之前)达到学士学位条件后，方能补发学士学位。若无法于毕业当年秋季学期内(2018年1月31日之前)修满所有学分，将永远无法获得学士学位证书。
2.在规定的学制年限内未修满培养计划规定的各类学分和总学分者，在尚未作退学处理的条件下，可向学校申请延长在校学习期限，延长在校学习期限累计最长不得超过2年。
3. 请所有本科留学生毕业生在HUB系统中仔细认真核对自己的成绩单并及时申请办理延长学习期限的审批手续。学校将不受理逾期提交的审批表。
