James Speta from Northwestern Law visits CCL

Professor James Speta, Former Senior Associate Dean for International Initiatives of the Pritzker School of Law of the Northwestern University & Co-President of the Law Schools Global League, visited the College on the morning of 17 May, 2024.



Associate Dean of the College Liu Chengwei met with Prof. Speta on Haidian Campus.  Director of the China-America Law Institute of the College Prof. Feng Kai, Deputy Director of the Institute A/Prof. He Qihao, A/Prof. Che Hu from the Institute and Deputy Director of the College Administrative Office Li Li attended the meeting.


Liu first extended a warm welcome to Prof. Speta on behalf of the college. He introduced the development history, faculty scale, enrollment scale, curriculum, student training and international exchange of the college. He said that a number of postgraduate students supervised by other faculty members and himself furthered their studies at Northwestern Pritzker Law to pursue their degrees and had a good experience. He looked forward to establishing a communication platform and developing more cooperation with the school.


Speta thanked Liu and introduced the enrollment scale, faculty scale, curriculum and international student enrollment of the school. He said that he visited the CUPL ten years ago and had met many Chinese students at Northwestern. He said he appreciated the ability of Chinese students and welcomed more students to the university.



Afterwards, the two sides conducted in-depth discussion on possible cooperation between the two schools, including student exchange, LL.M degree programme, faculty exchange, visiting scholar and other aspects, while exchanging specific details on curriculum and student safety, and reached a preliminary intention to cooperate.
