Students win first prize in Capital University Students Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competition

In the final of the eleventh “Challenge Cup” Capital University Students Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competition, jointly hosted by the Beijing Youth League, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Beijing Association for Science and Technology and the Beijing Federation University Societies, the entry of the College student delegation “Public Identification of Judicial Adjudication in the Age of Network Media: Based on the Theoretical Approach of Information Processing” won the first prize on 20 May, 2021.



The main event of the Challenge Cup was held at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. On the day of the competition, student Wang Nan (Captain) and Qiao Hengxiang, year 2020 entering students of the College, and Wang Man from the School of Criminal Justice participated in the defence. Other members of the team include student Gao Yujie and Chen Xin from the College, Bi Conghui from the School of Law and Jiang Jiaqi from the Business School. The instructors of the team were Prof. Shu guoying from the School of Law and Prof. Wei Yuening of the School of Criminal Justice.



The work was based on the interdisciplinary research of law and psychology, and adopted the methods of field investigation and data modelling, which had a very positive effect on bridging the cognitive gap between the public and judges. This achievement also fully demonstrated the students’ solid professional foundation, good cross-disciplinary ability and high enthusiasm for academic innovation.


The College will continue to summarize students' experience in scientific and technological innovation, further improve the system of students' innovation and entrepreneurship, increase support for teachers and students' scientific and technological innovation, and create a stronger atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship.


According to the organisers, more than 10,000 students from 70 universities in Beijing participated in this competition. 2,554 teams of them entered the city-level game. The University sent a total of 15 entries, and in the main competition they won a total of 4 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 4 third prizes.
