On the invitation of the Atmospheric Sciences College, German Professor Klaus Schäfer from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology offered a four-week English course in Atmospheric Chemistry for CUIT postgraduates as a visiting professor. The course, which was consisted of 20 lectures and 10 seminars, covered hot topics in the field of Atmospheric Chemistry, including atmospheric chemical composition and its variation, atmospheric pollution, greenhouse effect, aerosol and its environmental climate effect, chemical physical processes and etc. Furthermore, Professor Schäfer conducted three air pollution research lectures, discussing the latest research progress of the five sources of air pollution emission, transport diffusion, meteorological field driving mechanism, atmospheric chemistry process, and climate change.

On November 1st, after listening to the feedback collected from the teachers and students, Fan Guangzhou, Dean of Atmospheric Sciences College, organized a discussion with Prof. Schäfer on in-depth teaching and scientific research cooperation. It is initially agreed that during next three years, Professor Schäfer will work in CUIT for one month every semester, offering specific courses and lectures for undergraduates and postgraduates as well as carrying out scientific research cooperation with our teachers in Atmospheric Sciences College.
