1. Introduction
Xiamen University (XMU) was founded in 1921 by Mr. Tan Kah Kee, a well-known overseas Chinese leader. XMU is one of the national “211 Projects” and “985 Projects” key research universities in China.
The School of Informatics at XMU is located in Haiyun Park nearby Xiamen Software Park (Phase I). The School follows the XMU’s motto of “Pursue excellence, Strive for perfection” and keeps one eye on the state-of-the-art information and communication technology. The School is making the greatest efforts towards a first-class informatics school among the top-tier universities around the world.
The International Forum on Information and Communication Technology for Young Scholars (ICT4YS) will be held in Xiamen University, 5-6 December 2016, Xiamen, China. The mission of the forum is to provide young scholars a platform to exchange visions, technologies, practices and experiences on ICT applications and developments, so as to enhance the mutual understanding and cooperation between the participants at XMU and ones from overseas universities.
The forum will focus on the following four themes:
Session 1: Computer Science
Topics may target disciplines including Computer Infrastructure, Computer Software and Theory, Applied Computer Technology, Cognitive Science and Technology.
Session 2: Cyberspace Security
Topics may target disciplines including Network Content Security, Network Structure Security, Cryptography, Software Security and Reliability.
Session 3: Communication Engineering
Topics may target disciplines including Satellite Navigation and Positioning, Wireless Communication and Networking, Internet of Things, Underwater Acoustic Communication, Signal and Information Processing, Remote Sensing with Radar and LiDAR.
Session 4: Electronic Engineering
Topics may target disciplines including Physical Electronics, Circuits and Systems, Microelectronics and Solid-state Electronics, Microwave Technology.
2. Requirements for Participants
(1)Participants should be under 40 years old; and hold a Ph.D. degree from esteemed university/institution overseas; or Ph.D. degree from China with at least two years of research experience in an overseas university or research institute as either a postdoctoral fellow or an assistant professor.
(2)The applicants should demonstrate outstanding academic accomplishments in a given field as well as make peer prominence and earn recognition in the scholarly community.
(3)The applicants should have a broad academic vision and innovative thinking with enormous potential of future leadership in a given field.
(4)The applicants from mainland China should satisfy at least one of the following conditions: a member of The National Top-notch Youth Talents Plan, or a winner of The Outstanding Young Project of National Nature Science Foundation of China, or any young talents who possess equivalent academic achievements.

4. Program
4 December (Sun), all-day registration
5 December (Mon), all-day presentations: discussions between youth scholars and the representatives of faculty and administration from XMU. Youth scholars are expected to give poster presentations.
5. Funding Support
The forum charges no registration fee. Travel expenses of up to 10,000 RMB for applicants outside China, and up to 5,000 RMB for applicants from China will be provided. Accommodation and catering during the forum will be arranged accordingly. The School of Informatics at XMU will arrange transportation service at Xiamen International Airport.
