The academic staff in the Department of Literary and Translation Studies consist of experienced teachers and committed researchers.
Our staff constantly publish academic books, articles, and chapters with reputable publishers and in leading journals. We conduct various projects supported by the National Social Science Fund of China, the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the Foreign Education Research Committee of the Jiangsu Higher Education Association, the Jiangsu provincial government, the Foreign Affairs Office of Suzhou Industrial Park, the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland, the Andrew W Mellon Foundation, the John F Kennedy Library Foundation, and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
Our teaching is firmly rooted in our research. Our research-led courses allow students to engage with the latest thinking on a wide range of cultural and intellectual traditions. We encourage students to think critically about complex topics, to appreciate different perspectives, and to present their ideas in various formats, using fluent and persuasive methods.
Our innovative, immersive, practice-based modules provide students with authentic, real-life experiences and develop their essential skills, enabling them to adapt to the dynamic working environment in the digital age.
Our staff members value collaboration. We work closely with colleagues in our sister departments at the University of Liverpool and with prestigious adjunct and visiting professors through research collaboration and PhD co-supervision.
