In this leadership role, Eddy focuses on advancing IBSS’s interdisciplinary research agenda, fostering innovation in teaching, and building stronger ties between academia and industry to address critical global and regional challenges.
Eddy has played a pivotal role in shaping IBSS’s academic and strategic direction. As the former Head of the Economics Department and Director of Accreditations, Eddy was instrumental in securing IBSS’s international accreditations (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA/BGA), elevating the school’s global reputation. Eddy holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where his research on the diffusion and adoption of innovations laid the foundation for his current work. Since moving to China in 2012, he has pioneered research into consumer behaviour, tourism development, and contemporary issues in the domestic food industry. His current projects focus on food scares in China, examining the cultural and social mechanisms that drive consumer trust and decision-making. His research was funded by the National Science Foundation of China and has been featured in top-tier journals, including Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Ethics (FT50), and the Review of International Political Economy.
A Belgian-born Chinese scholar, Eddy brings a global perspective to his work while contributing to the local market’s growth. Beyond academia, he regularly engages in thought leadership through academic forums and practitioner workshops. His expertise in consumer psychology and innovation adoption has also supported international firms in navigating China’s complex market dynamics. Eddy remains committed to fostering IBSS as a hub for global citizenship, interdisciplinary learning, and actionable business insights.
