06 Mar 2025

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and the Urban Economy Forum (UEF), an organization that collaborates with the United Nations system and international partners to accelerate the implementation of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance research collaboration, fostering innovation and communication among international organizations, governments, industries, and academic institutions.

This partnership builds on discussions dating back to UEF 2019, with a milestone meeting in Toronto during UEF6 in October 2024, finalizing plans for enhanced cooperation. Both parties will coordinate the organization of international conferences, as well as conduct collaborative research, case studies, and joint projects. They will also encourage joint publications with significant international impact and social value. Key initiatives under the collaboration include joint events, World Urban Pavilion talks, and the development of international urban renewal guidelines.

The contact persons for this collaboration are Dr. Yunqing Xu, Director of the XJTLU Research Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), and Mr. Reza Pourvaziry, Chair of the Urban Economy Forum.

The collaboration will also feature a launch event for a newly published book on urban regeneration, discussing the Regent Park case study and highlighting best practices in urban renewal. This agreement marks a significant step towards global knowledge-sharing, building upon their long-standing communication and collaboration.
