Summer School Programme: Unveiling the Secrets of Success at Etron

On 18th July 2024, 74 students of the summer school programme – “Doing Business in Changing China”, jointly organised by the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and the China Studies Department of School of Humanities and Social Science, embarked on a profoundly meaningful corporate visit to Suzhou Etron Technologies Co., Ltd. The main aim of this visit was to provide students with an immersive experience of the enterprise's operational and management models, offer an in-depth understanding of industry dynamics, and broaden their business perspectives.

Suzhou Etron Technologies Co., Ltd., a prominent industry leader, is a Chinese domestic company serving global clients. With a focus on EMS services for over 17 years, Etron excels in manufacturing, processing, testing, and validating technological innovations. It has developed an intelligent production system, enabling customers worldwide to access their production quality management system.

Students had the unique opportunity to walk through the company's production workshop, closely observing advanced production equipment and meticulous technological processes, thereby obtaining a clear understanding of the entire product production cycle. The company's sales director elaborated in detail on PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and SMT (Surface Mount Technology) processing steps, and the dynamic optical product quality inspection. Simultaneously, he generously answered in detail their inquiries related to the production lines.

At the end of the visit, Calvin Han, the overseas business CEO of Etron Technologies Co., Ltd., warmly welcomed all students from XJTLU and elaborated on the company's core business scope, market layout, and future strategic planning blueprint for the students. He mentioned the strategic collaboration between XJTLU and Etron, asevery year high-quality graduates from XJTLU join Etron Technologies Co., Ltd..Calvin Han welcomed all summer school students to in the future for jobs and internships at Etron.

Audolfur Mar Gunnarsson a summer school student from the University of Iceland stated, "Regarding this corporate visit, I found witnessing the entire production progress extremely interesting. Moreover, when listening to their presentations and learning about their rich team-building activities aimed at fostering teamwork and enhancing team spirit, it was truly captivating. When I first met the enterprise CEO, I asked him whether I could work with them, and if my background met their requirements. He indicated that I could engage in sales or marketing work, which made me realise that there are alternative aspects and more opportunities to choose from. As I studied Political Science, I previously envisioned working in the government sector. However, interestingly, I now also have the opportunity to gain experience by applying for other positions."

In the interactive communication session, the summer school students actively posed questions and engaged in a lively and in-depth discussion with the experts from Etron Technologies Co., Ltd. on key issues such as industry development trends, enterprise development directions, and personal career planning. Based on their rich practical experience, the enterprise experts provided the students with highly valuable suggestions, helping the students with planning for their future career development paths.
