Recently, 22 students from the School of Film and TV Arts at XJTLU successfully passed the Avid International Certification Exams, becoming the first batch of students in the school to earn the title of Avid Certified Specialist. This not only demonstrates their exceptional professional skills but also lays a solid foundation for their future careers in the industry.
Avid, recognized as the professional digital standard in the industry, has a wide-reaching influence with its products and technologies. Avid offers comprehensive digital media solutions, ranging from production and management to broadcasting, including platforms for video editing, audio editing, mixing, and composing, such as Media Composer and Pro Tools.
Since 1 August 2020, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University has officially become an Avid Global Learning Partner (Partner Level - ALP-Academic), marking the school's strength and contribution in the field of film and TV education being fully acknowledged and supported by Avid. As a partner, the school can provide students with the latest authorized course content and certification services directly from Avid, ensuring that students not only master cutting-edge technologies but also obtain internationally recognized qualifications. Additionally, in mainland China, XJTLU is the second higher education institution to be awarded Avid certification as an international partner, following the Beijing Film Academy.
Cheng Fang, the Programme Director of Film and TV Production, and academic teacher Dane Taylor, as Avid certified instructors, provided professional guidance and support to help students successfully pass the certification exams. Cheng Fang received the Avid Certified Instructor | Media Composer qualification in September 2021, and Dane Taylor obtained the Avid Certified Instructor | Pro Tools qualification in 2022. Their professional capabilities and teaching achievements have been recognized by industry professionals.
After several semesters of study, the Avid Media Composer certification course, meticulously guided by Cheng Fang, concluded successfully. From 12 to 19 June, eight students passed the assessments with excellent performances, successfully passing the Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) and Media Composer Fundamentals II (MC110) exams, officially earning the title of Avid Certified | Media Composer Specialist.
The successful completion of this certification course is a high recognition of the students' professional abilities in film post-production. By deeply learning the industry-leading non-linear editing system, Avid Media Composer, they mastered comprehensive skills from project creation, material management, and editing techniques to advanced special effects applications, laying a solid foundation for their future careers in the film industry.
The certified students include: Ruoqing Wang, Henghuang Su, Yiping Song, Yafei Li, Yebin Lee, Yinglin Huang, Yuan Zong, and Yiqi Chen.
Spanning several semesters and two weeks of intensive study and assessment, the Avid Pro Tools certification course, carefully taught by Dane Taylor, concluded successfully. Fifteen students and three lab technicians passed the key exams—Pro Tools Fundamentals I (PT101) and Pro Tools Fundamentals II (PT110)—and earned the title of Avid Certified | Pro Tools Specialist.
The successful completion of this certification course not only signifies that the students have reached an internationally recognized professional level in audio editing and mixing but also highlights XJTLU's outstanding achievements in film and TV arts education. Through systematic learning of Pro Tools, the industry-leading audio solution, students mastered comprehensive skills from recording and editing to mixing, laying a solid foundation for their future careers in film, music, and other fields.
The certified students include: Zairan Wang, Jiachen Tian, Ruolin Liu, Feitong Ti, Yingqiao Ma, Siyao Li, Hengyi Lin, Yikun Yang, Xinyue Yang, Yanqi He, Jiayang Gao, Yebin Lee, Jaeryong Jung, Kyeong Yun Lee, and Ruilin Feng.
Additionally, the technical support team members Linzhi He, Feng Xu, and Yingyi Xu also successfully obtained the corresponding certifications, further enhancing the overall strength of the school's practical teaching.
Avid certification is a widely recognized professional qualification in the industry, indicating that the holder possesses the professional knowledge and skills to work in audio, video, and related fields. Obtaining Avid certification provides students with more opportunities to certify their professional skills and pursue academic and career development.
