The beginning of an exciting adventure: A send off to the exchange students heading to Taylor's University, Malaysia

Last week, six students from the School of Science at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University embarked on an extraordinary academic and cultural journey to join the Summer Research Mobility Programme (SRMP) at  Taylors University, Malaysia. As the long-awaited programme starts approaching, Professor John Moraros, Dean of the School of Science, and Program Coordinator, Dr. Weiwei Dai, convened a pre-departure meeting with the students. Amidst the enthusiasm for this incredible opportunity, they shared invaluable advice, guidance, experiences, and expectations with the selected students.

Professor John Moraros recounts his impressive conference experience at Taylor’s University, encountering many outstanding and ambitious scholars along the way. Additionally, he expressed a strong message for our young and bright minds to explore the world, highlighting on cherishing meaningful connections made along the way and in line with XJTLU’s mission and commitment to prepare our students to become global citizens and leaders.

Dr. Weiwei Dai emphasized the importance of safety, respect, and teamwork among the selected students throughout their research program at Taylor’s University. He shared his rich and meaningful early academic experiences to encourage the students, wishing them a productive and enjoyable trip. Dr. Dai hoped that they would create fond memories that would inspire others.

Both Prof. John Moraros and Dr. Weiwei Dai highlighted the importance of this remarkable opportunity, citing that this is a gateway towards many more collaborations with Taylor’s University, Malaysia. They encouraged the selected students to be exemplary ambassadors of the School of Science, paving the way for future cohorts to follow in their remarkable footsteps.

Summer Research Mobility Program

Under the expert guidance of esteemed Professors from both institutions, selected students from the School of Science  at XJTLU  embark on an exciting four-week research journey at Taylor's University from July 21st to August 19th. This exclusive program offers an outstanding hands-on experience in diverse research projects, spanning both wet and dry lab science disciplines. The productive outcomes of the students will be highlighted in a follow up story.
