IBSS staff Dr. Howe spoke at China's largest finance and venture capital conferences

Following the recent successful agreement between SIP and XJTLU to create a World Class Innovation Platform Dr. Paul Howe, Director of the XJTLU International Innovation Hub was invited as keynote speaker at one of China's largest finance and venture capital conferences on 24 September 2015 at the Hotel Swissôtel Grand, Shanghai, China.

The Shanghai Funding conference was sponsored by the China Association of Private Equity and the China M&A Association and has historically included top-level speakers and participants from the international investment and M&A community. This year the conference was attended by the Director of the Italian Trade Commission, the Managing Director of Business France and the Consulate General of Spain. The conference this year introduced an interesting and diverse mix of new funding mechanisms designed to foster and forge mutual business growth. This includes funding opportunities in key Industries including New Information Technology, High-end Equipment Manufacturing, Intelligent Manufacturing, New Materials, High-tech Service Industry, Biotechnology, Environmental Protection, Renewable Energy, New Energy & Intelligent Vehicles, Aeronautics.

Dr Howe shared the most recent and valuable trends, insights, discussed possible investment strategies and review and the latest M&A and VC opportunities from Germany, Europe and other parts of the world. Specifically, Dr Howe discussed the creation of a multi-million dollar investment fund which will propel Suzhou and the South Jiangsu region to the forefront of innovation and entrepreneurship – as the future "Silicon Valley of China." Dr Howe explained the fund invests in short term acceleration and longer term incubation projects. The fund has already secured matching funding from the government and is always looking for new sources of capital, innovative and entrepreneurial investments.
