Event introduction
Located by the scenic Hao River, Nantong Museum was established in 1905 by Zhang Jian, a Zhuangyuan (the No. 1 scholar in the highest imperial examination) and famous patriotic entrepreneur in the late Qing Dynasty. It was the earliest public museum in China and the birthplace of Chinese museums. Nantong Museum’s goal was to “be set up as a place where people could receive extensive knowledge.”
For this issue’s “KAI TAN LE” series lecture, the XJTLU Museum invites the Curator of Nantong Museum, Mr. Du Jiale, to share his ideas with the faculty members and students of XJTLU who have come from all over the world. We are going to have a close-range exploration of the charms and collision of modern and traditional cultures, and to have our minds rejuvenated with fresh ideas.
