Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) is a public institution of higher education established by Guangdong Province and Shenzhen Municipality with a sound beginning and high standards. Its establishment as a university of applied sciences was officially approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China on November 30, 2018 with identification code 4144014655.

Mission

SZTU aims to establish itself as an international, high-level and demonstrative university of research and technology with Chinese characteristic and global outlook. Fully drawing on and introducing the advanced educational experience of leading technical universities in developed countries such as Germany and Switzerland, SZTU is committed to cultivating high-level applied talents such as engineers and designers with international perspectives, craftsmanship spirit and innovation capacity. 

Features

1. The discipline construction is in accordance with the national strategy of “Made in China 2025” and the urgent need for industrial development in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.

2. The training model of “Professor Responsibility System” has been adopted. Instructed by professors, freshmen are required to get to learn professional skills immediately after enrollment. The curriculum adheres to the concept of “Come From Practice, Go Towards Application, Focus On Local Needs, and Keep The Whole World In View”.

3. With the cultivation models, curriculum systems, management systems, and teacher-student evaluation systems introduced from the world-class universities of applied sciences, SZTU has in-depth cooperation with global partners by co-building affiliated colleges and laboratories, co-cultivating talents, and jointly establishing testing centers.

4. SZTU actively establish strategic partnerships and explore new ways of cooperation with industry associations, leading enterprises and research institutes, striving to become a new highland for cultivating applied talents, conducting cutting-edge research, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

5. SZTU introduces full-time and part-time teachers from leading technical universities globally as well as experienced technical experts from enterprises and industries, committed to shaping an integrated teaching team with outstanding teaching abilities and rich experience in technology development and application.

Specialty Setup

SZTU sets up specialties and courses according to the needs of national and local development. As of May 2024, 18 colleges or schools have been established, 15 of which offer a total of 39 specialties to students, covering five disciplines including Engineering, Sciences, Liberal Arts, Management, and Arts. SZTU will keep strengthening discipline construction and promote the development of seven disciplines by 2025, including Engineering, Sciences, Economics, Management, Arts, Medicine, and Liberal Arts.

The establishment of SZTU is an active exploration to address the shortage of high-level innovative applied talents, aiming to optimize the structure of higher education in Guangdong Province and Shenzhen Municipality.
