The Ministry of Science and Technology's Fusion Center Conducts Research Visit to the University

On December 12, Wang Yan, Director of the China International Nuclear Fusion Energy Program Execution Center under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and her team visited the university for research and communication. Vice President Wang Ping, a member of the university's Party Committee, accompanied the delegation. Wang Ping welcomed Director Wang Yan and her team on behalf of the university, expressing gratitude for the center's long-standing concern and support for Southwest Jiaotong University. He provided an overview of the university's basic situation and highlighted the research progress made by the Institute of Fusion Science in the field of nuclear fusion in recent years. Wang Ping emphasized the university's active response to the national energy development strategy and its support for the School of Physical Science and Technology in advancing research on magnetic confinement fusion energy, contributing significantly to the national development of nuclear fusion energy research.

Wang Yan acknowledged the important progress made by Southwest Jiaotong University in the field of magnetic confinement nuclear fusion energy research. She outlined the strategic planning for nuclear fusion energy, emphasizing the importance of pursuing multiple parallel development paths. She expressed hope that Southwest Jiaotong University would continue to strengthen both international and domestic cooperation to further promote the development of China's fusion technology.

During the visit, Director Wang and her team toured China's first quasi-symmetric stellarator testing platform (CFQS-T). Professor Xu Yuhong, Director of the Institute of Fusion Science and a faculty member of the School of Physical Science and Technology, provided a detailed introduction to the key technical challenges faced during the design and construction of the device, as well as the significant breakthroughs achieved.

Leaders from the Institute of Scientific and Technological Development and the School of Physical Science and Technology also attended the meeting.
