The Nanjing University Education Development Foundation (NJUEDF) welcomes donations from all individuals who care about education. Various ways of making donations can be considered, ranging from small gifts to setting up of an endowment fund. Nanjing University welcomes donations by governments, private sectors, international communities and individuals from all walks of life who show concern and give support to the university’s development. NJUEDF would recognize their contributions in the following ways:
1. Certificates of Appreciation issued by the university and appropriate titles of honor will be conferred to donors.
2. A special donation can be named after the donor according to his or her wish if this donation reaches a certain level.
3. Acknowledgement of sponsorship will be made in a certain way at project exhibitions.
4. The list of donors will be officially publicized in the annual report of Nanjing University.
5. The acknowledgement can be engraved on bronzes to show the university’s gratitude at the consent of the donor.
NJUEDF, in its fund management, respects the wish of donors and makes effective use of every sum of money it receives. It manages every gift openly, transparently and fairly. Potential recipients of NJUEDF support will go through a sophisticated screening process before they receive the donation.
Specific measures are listed as follows:
1. All donations should be kept in the NJUEDF account and NJUEDF should provide receipts for the donors. According to relevant provisions in China, donations can enjoy tax-exemption.
2. NJUEDF is responsible for the specialized management of donations according to the agreement. If necessary, it may set up a separate account for a special donation and carry out an independent accounting.
3. Earmarked grants will be used in accordance with the donation agreement or the donor's wish.
4. NJUEDF invests and operates donations to endowment funds. It shall use the proceeds according to the agreement.
5. NJUEDF puts regular donations in corresponding special funds for managements and uses.
6. NJUEDF, together with relevant departments, is responsible for the declaration, review, award and appropriation of donations. It carries out all activities based on the donation agreements, relevant provisions and administrative measures.
7. Donors’ personalized awards are negotiable without violating basic principles of the university.
