In 1998, Nanjing University (NJU) founded the Sculpture Art Research Center and resumed its art education after half a century’s suspension.

The Art Institute of Nanjing University is devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, and research in the arts. Its aim is to contribute to establishing Nanjing University as one of the top universities at a global level.

The Symphony Orchestra of Nanjing University was founded in 2000, composed of students of different majors. In November 2011, it was named by Jiangsu Provincial Education Department “the Symphony Orchestra of the College Students Art Group of Jiangsu Province.”

Founded in 1996, the orchestra is aimed at promoting Chinese culture, advocating high art, pushing forward quality-oriented education and showing the graceful bearing of the students.

Nanjing University Student Choir Group was founded in 1999, and its predecessor was the Sunshine Choir of Nanjing University. It is one of the mainstays of the university’s student music groups along with the Symphony Orchestra and the Traditional Instruments Orchestra.
