News:Keynotes presentations in the first day

On the first day of the 9th Hutton Symposium, five keynote presentations were given by five granite experts scholars under theme 1, which is on “Granites and the generation and evolution of the continental crust“, Prof. Jean-François Moyen, Prof. Xian-Hua Li, Prof. Williams Collins, and Prof. Gary Stevens are the conveners for this theme.

  

Professor Chris Hawkesworth of Bristol University, UK, gave the first keynote speech entitled “Geological constraints on the onset of plate tectonics”.

Dr. Bruno Dhuime of Montpellier University, France, gave the second keynote speech entitled “An isotope geochemistry perspective on continental growth, the start of plate tectonics and the emergence of the continents”.

Prof. Williams Collins of Curtin University, Australia, gave a keynote speech on “The critical role of water in the generation and differentiation of continental crust”.

Prof. Fang Huang of University of Science and Technology of China gave a keynote speech entitled “Understanding granites and the continental crust from metal stable isotopes”.

Dr. Oscar Laurent of ETH, Switzerland, gave a keynote speech entitled “Formation of continents through time: (re-) integrating isotopic proxies based on accessory minerals with the granitoid record”.
