报告人简介：

Roberta L. Rudnick教授是地球科学领域国际知名学者，美国科学院院士，中国科学院外

籍院士，现任美国马里兰大学地质系主任。她长期致力于研究大陆的形成和演化，研究方

法涵盖了岩石学、元素地球化学、同位素地球化学和地球物理等。现已发表论文百余篇，

其中包括多篇Nature、Science、PANS等顶级期刊论文。

摘要如下：

The Earth is the only planet in our solar system with continents. Continents

provide the habitat in which our species evolved, as well as the sustenance we

 need to survive. Yet how continents form, as well as when they formed, is

still a matter of debate. This lecture will review current thinking on what

continents are made of, and how they may have formed and evolved through time.
