On April 7th, Zhao Ji, president of Northeastern University, met Anthony Samuels, chairman of Surrey County Council, Britain, and Jin Weiyu, British secretary general of the China-Britain Entrepreneurs Association at the international academic exchange center. Song Qi, deputy director of Liaoning Foreign Affairs Office, and relevant leaders from the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of our school, the China-Netherlands Institute of Biomedicine and Information Engineering attended the meeting.
Zhao Ji expressed the warmest welcome to Anthony Samuel's visit and introduced the basic situation and characteristics of Northeast University. For example, Northeastern University has great features in technological innovation, transfer of achievements and cooperation of production, study and research, in which great achievements have been made. Professor Max Lu, president of Surrey University, is a well-known alumnus of Northeastern University. He led a delegation to visit Surrey University last year.The cooperation between the two universities has already had a solid foundation in the early stage. Zhao Ji hopes that Northeastern University and Surrey University can jointly establish Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions to strengthen the exchanges in culture, science and technologies.
Anthony Samuel said that as the chairman of the surrey parliament, he is willing to contribute to the cooperation in production, teaching and research of Surrey University, and help its international students find jobs. Anthony Samuel alsosaid that the two universities have many similarities in the philosophy of school-running. There are many Chinese students in Surrey University. The trip is expected to promote the cooperation between Northeastern University and Surrey University and make the cooperation between the two universities a model.
