On December 3, Science and Technology Exchange Meeting between NEU and Northern Heavy Industries Group Co., Ltd. (NHI) was held in Room 308 of Hanqing Assembly Hall. Wang Xuemin, Chairman of NHI, Liu Xingming, Vice-president of NHI, and Feng Xiating, Vice-president of NEU, were present at the meeting. Leaders of the Design and Research Institute of NHI, as well as relevant persons in charge of the Sci-tech Department, colleges, schools and laboratories of NEU attended the meeting.
NHI, as a large-scale multinational heavy machinery manufacturing company subordinate to Liaoning Fangda Group, has been regarding developing heavy machinery to serve the construction of national major projects as its R&D goal, and focusing on building an innovation mechanism that is market-oriented with enterprises as the main body and features in-depth industry-university-research integration to strengthen combination with iron, steel manufacture and other fields, Wang Xuemin said. NHI has been reinforcing key cooperation with NEU in the aspects of scientific research, talent cultivation and platform construction, and will further propel the shift from geographical advantage to competitive advantage that will boost the development of both parties and try to make new contributions to the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China, he added.
NHI’s product structure and development goals are fitted with the direction of NEU’s disciplines in depth, catering to high-quality development, Feng Xiating said. Both parties should be goal-oriented and problem-oriented, insist on the accurate docking and in-depth service mode, further deepen and expand cooperation between the two parties based on project cooperation, and transform the academic advantages and technological innovation achievements of NEU into a driving force to promote the innovation ability and product structure upgrading of NHI as soon as possible, he expressed.
At the meeting, the two parties had a special discussion on the upgrading of tunneling products, belt conveyor products and stacker-reclaimers, and then visited the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education on Safe Mining of Deep Metal Mines at NEU.
