Recently, Chungin Lee, honorary professor at NEU, won the Chinese Government Friendship Award 2021 for his outstanding contributions to China’s modern infrastructure construction, resources and environment development, high-level scientific and technological personnel cultivation and cultural exchanges between China and South Korea.
Professor Chungin Lee is a member of NAEK, a tenured professor at Seoul National University, a tenured fellow of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and an honorary professor at NEU. He mainly engages in the research on rock mechanics and engineering, mining engineering, and underground space technology. Professor Chungin Lee has been cooperating with NEU since the 1990s, and has carried out extensive and in-depth cooperation and exchange with NEU’s Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education on Safe Mining of Deep Metal Mines in the field of rock mechanics and underground engineering.
Formally established in 1991, the Chinese Government Friendship Award is the highest award set up by the Chinese government to commend foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China’s modernization and reform and opening up.
