TEAM INTRODUCTION
Current position: Home >ProfileLight metal foam and environmental protection materials research team is a part of Institute of Slag Metallurgy and Material Synthesis, School of Metallurgy, Northeastern. Professor Luo Hongjie, the leader of the research group, is currently a professor of metallurgical engineering at Northeastern University, a doctoral tutor, and the deputy director of the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education for Advanced Preparation Technology of Materials. Professor Luo Hongjie has presided over or participated in 4 National High-tech Development Plan projects (863), 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 6 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and more than 10 enterprise technology research projects. Moreover, he has formed cross-national and cross-regional cooperation with famous scientific research institutions at home and abroad such as Osaka University, Institute of Metals, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dalian University of Technology and University of Science and Technology of China. During the period, 48 undergraduate graduates, 46 master graduates and 13 doctoral students have been trained or jointly trained. The graduates are widely distributed in domestic universities, scientific research units and large enterprises and institutions. At the same time, the pilot experiment base of the Engineering Research Center for Advanced Materials Preparation Technology of the Ministry of Education and the joint training base for graduate students of the School of Metallurgy of Northeastern University have been established in Fushun New Materials Industrial Park in Liaoning Province, Huolinguole Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia and Peixian Industrial Park in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, respectively. The main research directions of our team are as follows: First, New material development direction: including the preparation of light metal (Al, Mg, Si, Ti) foam materials and the development of composite materials and application technologies. Second, Direction of environmental protection: High-value utilization of solid waste in aluminum industry and development of inorganic porous filter materials such as basalt fiber.
The training goal of our team for graduate students is to give attention to both theoretical research and engineering practice, and to bring up innovative talents who can solve scientific and engineering problems, have meticulous thinking and independent working ability. We have strong academic atmosphere, united and friendly students, and abundant research achievements.
