On December 7th, sponsored by CAST and undertaken by Northeastern University, the 268th Young Scientist Forum of CAST – development frontier of deep into rock dynamics, was held in the Northeastern University international academic exchange center. Bin Shi, division chief of CAST academic department, and vice-president of Northeastern University, Liang Zuo, presented at the Forum and delivered speeches.
Professor Wancheng Zhu from Northeastern University, Hui Zhou, researcher from Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Feng Dai from Sichuan University, and Professor Zilong Zhou from Central South University had served as Executive Chairmen of the Forum. Over 90 young scholars from 33 universities and research institutes nationwide in the field of mining engineering, civil engineering, tunnel engineering, earthquake engineering, and civil air-defense construction attended, and launched a wide range of discussion around the theme.
President Liang Zuo welcomed and thanked all the young scholars and experts to come. He introduced the history of mining engineering of Northeastern University, and looked forward the achievement of discussions to benefiting its future development. Bin Shi thanked Northeastern University for the great support to holding the Forum, and presented the Young Scientist Forum and outcomes briefly. He also pointed out the leadership and the obvious effects of mining engineering of Northeastern University. Furthermore, he encouraged young scholars to take full advantage of the Forum and promote the development of rock dynamics. Besides, four executive chairmen of the Forum presented keynote speeches on rock dynamic characteristics and its engineering application separately.
