Tenured Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, IEEE Senior Member, Vice Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, Northeastern University, faculty member of National Frontiers Science Center for Industrial Intelligence and Systems Optimization, Key Laboratory of Data Analytics and Optimization for Smart Industry, Ministry of Education, and Chief Professor of Quality Analytics Research Program. He serves as a member of the Professional Committee on Intelligent Industrial Data Analytics and Optimization of the Chinese Society of Operations Research, and the director of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Industrial Intelligent Optimization and Control of Liaoning Province.

His main research interests include evolutionary computation, multiobjective optimization, industrial big data and machine learning, evolutionary learning, computational intelligence optimization and other theoretical methods, data analytics-based production process modeling and operation optimization and other engineering optimization techniques, quality prediction, production process monitoring and diagnosis, as well as engineering applications in intelligent manufacturing in process industries.

Focusing on these research directions, he has published more than 50 academic papers (including 15 papers in the TOP journals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Region I) in famous international and domestic journals such as IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation (TOP Journal on Intelligent Optimization), IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TOP Journal on Artificial Intelligence), IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics (TOP journal on Production and Control), IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems (TOP journal on Systems Engineering), IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Operations Research, Computers & Operations Research, Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, Information Sciences.

As a project leader, he has presided over one project under the National Key Research and Development Program of China, three projects under the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has participated in the Innovative Research Group Project under the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Major Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and a number of practical engineering projects of the enterprise as the key researchers.

He has served as the reviewer for many famous international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, and Computers & Operations Research。

In the past five years, the master and doctoral students under his supervision have published more than 20 papers in international famous journals such as IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, and applied for 9 national invention patents (5 granted). Among the students supervised in the past five years, three undergraduates won the Finalist Nominee Prize (F Prize) of the 2023 U.S. Collegiate Mathematical Modeling Contest, three undergraduates won the National Scholarship, two undergraduates won the Outstanding Undergraduate Graduation Design, one undergraduate won the Outstanding Graduate of Northeastern University, and one master student was awarded the Outstanding Graduate of Liaoning Province. The graduated students have been employed by many famous universities and enterprises in China.
