1.The Master’s program of “Anthropology and Ethnology”

(1)Program Introduction

The Master’s program of “Anthropology and Ethnology” offers two tracks: Applied Anthropology and Ethnic Study. The program aims to cultivate versatile professionals who will engage in teaching, research, and other jobs related to Ethnology and relative fields and to provide intellectual resources for the development of high-quality, top-level talent in Ethnology. Graduates of this program are expected to possess a systematic understanding of the basic theories and methodologies in the field, stay abreast of the latest development in the discipline and cultivate the ability of conducting fieldwork and research independently. Students are expected to specialize in a particular area, develop innovative thinking, and possess self-improvement capabilities. They will be trained to develop proficiency in reading foreign-language literature.

For master's students, the fieldwork duration is expected to last no less than 4 months. The specific time and location will be determined by the advisor and student in accordance with the basic requirements of the training program.

2.The Master’s program of “Religious Studies”

(1)Program Introduction

The English-language master's program in religious studies focuses on "Chinese religions and world religions", aiming to cultivate high-level talents who can not only innovate in the theoretical research of religious studies, but also contribute to the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. After training in this course, students will have general humanistic literacy,philosophic thinking skills, and also specialized knowledge of religion and a critical understanding of multicultural traditions. By deepening international students' understanding of religion and enhancing their recognition of Chinese culture, this course will promote the construction of students' "three abilities": being able to think deeply about the history of world religions in China; being able to have a deeper understanding of the inner connection between religion and Chinese culture; being able to more deeply appreciate the dialectical relationship between the world background of Chinese religion and its local characteristics.

3.The Master’s program of “Chinese History”

(1)Program Introduction

This major is aimed at enrolling students from the ‘Belt and Road' countries, striving to build a continuous interactive cultivation system. With harmonious cooperation as the main theme, it promotes cultural exchanges through historical education and teaching, jointly building the 'Belt and Road'. It deeply integrates the main educational experiences of specialized historical disciplines such as ethnic history and ethnic relations history. It offers two major characteristic course series: Ancient Chinese-Foreign Relations History and Modern Chinese-Foreign Relations History, with a focus on several courses that reflect the interactive process and the history of communication exchanges of Chinese civilization with other countries in the world. These courses demonstrate the splendid material culture and highly developed civilization of ancient China. They specifically outline and organize the modern Chinese-foreign relations from the perspective of China's relations with neighboring countries and the transformation of China's foreign relations, all to varying degrees deepening the understanding of the developmental history of China's relationship with the world. The aim is to cultivate high-level international students who are friendly to China, possess an inclusive cognition, and are aware of cultural diversity.

4.The Master’s program of “Linguistics and Applied linguistics”

(1)Program Introduction

The teaching affairs for the all-in-English postgraduate program of linguistics and applied linguistics is co-organized by the College of International Education and the School of Chinese Ethnic Minority Languages and Literature. The School of Chinese Ethnic Minority Languages and Literature, one of the departments with the longest history in MUC, boasts more than 1,500 teachers and students from all ethnic groups, and consists of 6 teaching departments of Chinese ethnic minority languages and literature and 1 Chinese language teaching department. It is the largest and most complete teaching and research institution in the field of Chinese ethnic minority languages and literature in China. Linguistics and Applied Linguistics has been the leading major in the School of Chinese Ethnic Minority Languages and Literature. The all-in-English postgraduate program aims to cultivate senior professionals with a sound personality and a friendly attitude towords China who systematically master the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of linguistics, understand the academic frontier of this major, and have the capacities to analyze, research and solve linguistic problems in practice.

(1)Program Introduction

6.The Master’s program of “Journalism and Communication”

(1)Program Introduction

The English Master's Program in Journalism and Communication at the School of Journalism and Communication, Minzu University of China, is a three-year, fully English-taught program designed for international students. This program is dedicated to cultivating high-level professionals with a solid theoretical foundation, comprehensive professional knowledge, proficient skills, and an international perspective in the field of cross-cultural journalism and communication research and application.The program offers three research directions: Intercultural Communication Studies, Communication Theory and Application, and New Media and Communication. It comprises various course modules, including mandatory courses such as Global Communication History, Intercultural Communication, and Film and Television Cultural Communication. Elective courses cover specialized subjects like Advertising Creativity and Performance, Chinese Popular Language and Culture, as well as foundational courses like Basic Chinese, Chinese Culture, and History and Culture of "Belt and Road" Countries.The faculty of this program has overseas backgrounds, having studied and conducted research at renowned universities and academic institutions worldwide. Each student has the opportunity to engage in academic research under the one-on-one guidance of a mentor. Applicants and candidates must be non-Chinese citizens who meet the criteria specified in the regulations for the recruitment and education of international students at Minzu University of China.

7.The Master’s program of “Environmental Science and Engineering”

(1)Program Introduction

Through three years of course study and scientific research practice training, students can have scientific thinking and innovation ability, master the ideas, methods and technologies to solve environmental problems, and lay a solid professional foundation for independent teaching, scientific research, management and technology development in Environmental Science in the future. The following knowledge, skills and qualities are required:

8.The Master’s program of “Ecology”

(1)Program Introduction

Through a three-semester program of study and practical scientific research training, students can master theories, methods and related technologies for carrying out research on ecology and related issues; and are provided with a strong foundation in independently conducting scientific research, teaching, professional research, management and development in ecology and related fields in the future. For postgraduates participating the Master’s in the first-class subject of Ecology program, the goals on knowledge, skills and qualities with professional study and training are as the following:

1.1 Master the basic knowledge, skills and methods of ecology-related research directions; track the frontiers and latest trends in the field of study;

1.2 Master the basic skills of data query, document retrieval and application of modern information technology to obtain relevant professional knowledge and information;

1.3 Develop the ability in experimental design and knowledge in experimental techniques and research methods, be able to analyze and discuss experimental data and research results, and write professional scientific papers;

1.4 Have a rigorous attitude towards scientific research and a sense of innovation in scientific research, and be able to independently engage in practice related to the major;

1.5 Have strong communication skills and a sense of cooperation in academic research.

Ⅱ. Application Procedure

An applicant needs to log in to the international student registration website of MUC at /muc/mu_lxs/member/login.do, complete the online application, and upload the certificates required.

Ⅲ. Application Documents

►Notarized highest diploma: Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

►Academic transcripts: Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;

►A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English: Master’s students should write at least 1000 words;

►Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors;

►Language qualification certificates: Applicants for English taught programs shall provide IELTS or TOFEL report, an applicant who comes from native English speaking countries or whose college education is all-in-English needs not provide English examination results (those who satisfy this requirement need to provide English education certificates);

►Foreigner Physical Examination Form, please written in English. The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months;

►Copy of First Page of Passport:If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement;

►Non-Criminal Record Report: The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
