2025 Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship - Chinese University Program in HUST

Scholarship students can register for either Chinese-taught program or English-taught program if applicable, with good Chinese or English language proficiency.

When & How to Apply
Please apply ONLINE between November 1st, 2024 and February 28th, 2025.
NOTE:
- Applications submitted by current degree students in China’s university who will graduate in 2026 or later are NOT accepted.

Eligibility
Outstanding academic performance and potential.
Applicants for Master’s programs should have been conferred the Bachelor’s Degree, be under the age of 35;
Applicants for Doctoral programs should have been conferred the Master’s Degree, be under the age of 40;
Both should be equivalent to those of the Chinese related degrees.
Language Proficiency
English-medium Programs: Good command of English.
TOEFL 80 or above;
GRE General 310 or above;
IELTS 6.0 or above;
other certificates of the same proficiency level which are accepted by HUST;
Or the previous degree was instructed in English.
Chinese-medium Programs:
HSK 4 with scores 180 or above for programs of Science, Engineering and Medicine;
HSK 5 with scores 180 or above for programs of Economics, Management, Literature, Education, Arts and Law.
HSK 5 with scores 200 or above for programs in Tongji Hospital and Union Hospital.
Or the previous degree was instructed in Chinese.
Grade Point Average
3.0/4, 3.75/5, 75% or above.
GPA systems or the other equivalent systems are both accepted.
Application Procedure
Step 1.
Apply at HUST Online Applicant System (Visit http://admission.hust.edu.cn), submit the Academic Documents.
Step 2.
Pay the application fee after passing the online language test.
Step 3.
The application will be forwarded to the relevant school/department concerned for academic review. Applicants that pass the review will receive the Pre-admission Letter.
Step 4.
Complete the online application procedure at Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (Visit http://www.campuschina.org/), upload the Pre-admission Letter with other application document, submit online and click “print the application form” for downloading the Application Form.

Upload the Non-Academic Documents at HUST Online Applicant System and wait for the scholarship nomination result.
Application Documents
Part 1. Academic Documents
1. Academic Certificate
An official certificate of your highest education or the official document of enrollment issued by the current school.
Academic documents issued in the third language should be notarized in Chinese or English editions.
2. Transcripts
3. Personal Statement
Introduce yourself in details, explain your understanding of China, list the reasons and your expectations for studying at HUST.
4. Personal Introduction Video
Please record and submit a video in English or Chinese within 60 seconds.
5. CV
Including educational background, work experience, and publication list if available.
6. Study Plan/Research Proposal
More than 1,000 characters or words, in Chinese or English;
Structure: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Significance of Research, Reference.
Details: Introductory background, Research questions, Aims/Objectives, Expected Results, etc.
Future academic/career objectives (Preferred).
7. Writing sample
A written work submitted for either a grade or publication.
The paper closely related to the field of study you wish to pursue in the division would be preferred.
8. Language Proficiency Certificate
9. 2 Recommendation Letters
Signed by your former professors/associate professors.
10. Acceptance Letter issued by the prospective supervisor of HUST (Required by some schools as indicated in the Program List).
Part 2. Non-Academic Documents
1. Passport
2. Physical Examination Form.
Those who are studying or working in China could upload the Health Certificate or Residence Permit instead.
3. Certificate of Non-criminal Record
A certificate issued by the police station or law enforcement agency certifying that you have no previous criminal record.
