From November 28 to December 2, ICARE Chinese Dean Prof. Luo Xiaobing traveled to Europe for a working visit, during which he visited the MINES Paristech-PSL and CentraleSupélec to deepen partnerships. On behalf of ICARE, he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Padova -Department of Industrial Engineering in Italy, expanding channels for faculty and student exchanges. This visit enhanced mutual trust and consensus with European universities.
At the University of Padova, Prof. Luo Xiaobing held discussions with Prof. Fabrizio Dughiero, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering, and Vice Head of the Department Prof. Manuele Dabalà, among others. They had a friendly exchange and signed a MoU. Prof. Luo introduced the strengths of our university’s engineering and medical disciplines, as well as the achievements and characteristics of talent cultivation of ICARE. Prof. Dughiero warmly welcomed Prof. Luo and fully acknowledged the broad prospects for cooperation between the two institutions in areas of engineering education. Both sides look forward to taking the signing of the MoU between the two institutions as an opportunity to initiate bilateral mobility for students, faculty, and researchers, and actively explore joint talent cultivation programs, thereby promoting comprehensive strategic cooperation between both sides. Vice Dean Cheng Qiang from National Graduate College for Engineers -HUST and Deputy Dean Zou Mingqing from ICARE also participated in this meeting.
After the meeting, Prof. Luo visited the Turbomachinery and Energy Systems Laboratory, the Bioprocess Engineering Research Laboratory, and the Palazzo Bo.
At CentraleSupélec, accompanied by ICARE European coordinator Prof. Alain Thorel, Prof. Luo met with the Director of Centrale Supélec, Romain SOUBEYRAN, who is also the former Director of the MINES Paris. Prof. Luo sincerely thanked President SOUBEYRAN for his long-term support for the development of ICARE, introducing the institute’s school running achievements over recent years and its future development plans. Director SOUBEYRAN introduced the history of CentraleSupélec, its disciplinary and research strengths, campus construction plans, and of its undergraduate programs, offering valuable suggestions for the development of ICARE.
At Mines Paris-PSL, Prof. Luo met with the Education Director Prof. Frédéric FONTANE and other directors. Prof. Luo reviewed the history of cooperation and achievements between the two universities, introduced the institute’s actual international cooperation network, and both sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on topics such as teaching collaboration, summer school programs, and CTI accreditation. During his visit to France, Prof. Luo also met with professors and scholar representatives from French partner universities, expressed gratitude for their active contributions to promoting the high-quality development of the institute.
The year 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Europe. As the first significant cooperative project in engineering education of Chinese and European governments, ICARE will continue to play its role as a window for promoting China and Europe cooperation. Focusing on cultivating high-level international talent in clean and renewable energy, ICARE aims to promote pragmatic cooperation in higher education between China and Europe, strengthen the foundation of cultural exchanges between China and Europe, and contribute more to global sustainable development.
