On the afternoon of October 11th, accompanied by Ding Rui, Deputy Director of the European Department of the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, Dominic McAllister, the British Consul-General in Wuhan, led a 23-member British education delegation to HENU for an exchange visit. Vice President Zhang Ligang attended the symposium, with heads of the International Affairs Office and relevant departments participating in the meeting. The session was chaired by Li Qiuye, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office.
Zhang Ligang extended a warm welcome to Dominic McAllister and his delegation. He outlined the basic profile of HENU, noting that the University has set a strategic goal to become a “research-oriented, comprehensive, and first-class university”. He emphasized the HENU’s high regard for internationalization efforts. Henan University places great importance on cooperation and exchanges with UK universities and hopes that this symposium will lead to substantive collaboration in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, scientific research, and joint educational programs, thereby providing a high-quality educational exchange platform for students and faculty from both sides and advancing the educational endeavors of both China and the UK.
Dominic McAllister highly praised HENU’s achievements in teaching, education, and scientific research in recent years. He outlined the current state of higher education cooperation between China and the UK. Moreover, he expressed that universities in the UK greatly value the opportunity to collaborate with Henan University and look forward to taking full advantage of this occasion to engage in extensive discussions on cooperative education, faculty and student exchanges, and joint scientific research.
Representatives from the UK institutions sequentially presented an overview of their respective organizations at the meeting. Li Qiuye provided an introduction to the overall situation of HENU. Both sides exchanged views on their collaborative intentions.
Dominic McAllister and his delegation also visited the Zhengzhou campus of HENU.
The visiting UK educational institutions included Aston University, Chichester University, Coventry University, De Montfort University, University of East Anglia, University of Greenwich, Trinity Saint David University of Wales, UK NARIC, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Thames Holdings Group, Elsevier, and British Standards Institution.
