On the morning of November 28, 2023, a significant event unfolded at the Changping Campus of Chinese University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) as the topping-out ceremony for the student dormitory project's concrete and steel frame was held. Attendees included Hu Ming, Chair of the University Council, Ma Huaide, President of CUPL, Vice Presidents Li Shuangchen and Chang Baoguo, and Vice Council Chair Huang Ruiyu. Also present were key figures from Beijing Uni-Construction Group, the project's general contracting department, and the supervisory unit. Heads of various departments of CUPL, student representatives, and staff of the construction and supervisory units also attended the ceremony.

The student dormitory project, boasting a construction area of 41,185 square meters, stands tall with 12 floors above ground and 3 floors underground, reaching a height of 44.8 meters. Its components include student dormitory, logistics and ancillary facilities, an underground garage, and civil air defense. Specifically, the above ground structure houses 659 student dormitory rooms, accommodating up to 2,620 people. Meanwhile, the third underground floor serves as a civil air defense and garage, capable of parking 64 vehicles, while the first and second underground floors are designed for student activity rooms and logistics facilities.

Since the commencement of construction, the project team has tackled various challenges such as the pandemic, extreme weather conditions, tight schedules, and heavy workloads with resilience and determination. Through meticulous planning, scientific construction methods, and concerted efforts from all stakeholders, the project has successfully passed two rounds of evaluations and the main structure acceptance, achieving significant milestones along the way.

This year marks CUPL’s “Quality Improvement Year”, with the student dormitory project being one of its key initiatives. Its completion is closely related to the overall enhancement of faculty and student satisfaction. Moving forward, the project team will remain committed to ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency, adhering to the highest standards, and delivering optimal quality. Their aim is to complete the project as scheduled, thereby presenting a gratifying outcome to the wider CUPL community.
