In May 2002, thanks to the strong support of relevant supervising government departments and the joint efforts of faculty, students and alumni both at home and abroad, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) successfully held a series of events to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The celebration fully demonstrated the 50-year glorious history and educational capacity of CUPL to academic circles in China and beyond. The successful celebration of CUPL's 50th anniversary not only enlarged the social influence and cemented the reputation of CUPL, but also stimulated enthusiasm of faculty and alumni to care for and support the further development of CUPL. In addition, it constantly reminded us that alumni are the uniquely precious resources of universities as well as an important force that cannot be neglected in the construction and development of CUPL.

In May 2002, taking the opportunity of the successful celebration of the 50th anniversary of CUPL, the Preparation Committee of the Alumni Association of China University of Political Science and Law (AACUPL) was established for the establishment of AACUPL. At the same time, AACUPL decided that a Vice President of CUPL would be in charge of the Alumni Association in order to strengthen alumni-related works.

On October 11, 2003, after more than one-year's active and orderly preparation, the grand inauguration ceremony of AACUPL was held at the Auditorium of the university's Changping Campus. Thousands of alumni representatives from all over the country and representatives of faculty and students gathered together to celebrate the establishment of AACUPL and to wish for its prosperous development. The establishment of AACUPL has opened a new chapter of CUPL's alumni work and has laid a solid foundation for the rapid development of alumni work in the future.

Up to now, AACUPL has established 33 provincial and regional associations in China, such as in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan; it also has five overseas associations, such as in the United States, South Korea, and Australia & New Zealand (ANZ).

Serve all alumni is the eternal tenet of AACUPL!
