Prof. Wang Zhihua, from the Institute of China-Russia Law of the College, student Chen Yuxi, year 2023 entering doctoral candidate, and student Wei Puzan, year 2021 entering master candidate, were invited to attend the Second Central-Asian International Scientific and Educational Forum and give a report in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 13-14 June, 2024.

The Forum was co-hosted by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Kutafin Moscow State Law University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and organised by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The theme of the forum was ‘Law as a Basis for Regional Economic Integration’, which aimed to explore the important role of law in promoting regional economic cooperation and development. The forum attracted more than 100 scholars from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries to attend. During the meeting, the participating scholars had extensive and in-depth exchanges, enhanced mutual understanding and friendship, and opened the door for further cooperation and exchanges in the future.

At the meeting, Wang presented a report on the SCO Framework of Regional Economic Integration of Legal Regulation. He pointed out that Kazakhstan was a must for the ancient Silk Road, and that it was during President of China Xi Jiping’s visit to the country in 2013 that Xi first proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, which was widely echoed by countries along the route. Wang said that in the framework of the SCO, legal cooperation involves many areas, which is also relevant to the law people of the time.

Chen and Wei delivered keynote speeches on the Comparative Law Patterns and China's Plans for the Governance of Cross-Border Movement of Personal Data and the Impact of China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law on International Commercial Arbitration respectively.
