The contents of this course include basic theories of psychology, need mentality and its classification, motivation, behavior and design, perceptual characteristics and design, product creative psychology, etc. Through attending lectures, taking part in class discussion, and case analysis, students will get acquainted with the basic theories of psychology, realize their functions in steps like investigation, analysis, orientation, development, and assessment, and grasp the methods of applying psychological principles to design.

The contents of this course include  western prehistoric art, Medieval art, Renaissance art, Baroque art in the 17th and 18th centuries, New classical art, romantic art, and art in 19th and 20th centuries. The research objects are mainly paintings, sculptures, architectural works, which are supplemented by document literature. Through attending lectures and joining in group discussion, students are to grasp the history of Western art, the schools of different periods, and representative works. They will be able to analyze western phenomena of art and have the accomplishment of appreciating western works of art.

This course regards the general law of various types of arts as research object. The content concludes the nature and characteristics of art,the laws of occurance and development of art, and the famous artists in various fields as well as their representative works. Through attending lectures, watching visual materials,class discussion,students are to realize the laws of art through the process from image to abstractness, fromindividual togeneral, from particular to universal, laying a good foundation of artistic theory.

The ability of finding beauty, appreciating beauty, commenting on beauty, and creating beauty will be cultivated.

  

Folk Arts
