On December 9, 2024, the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Henan Province held the Science and Technology Awarding Meeting of Henan Province to commend the winners of the Science and Technology Award of Henan Province in 2024. The meeting was attended and addressed by Lou Yangsheng, Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, presided over by Wang Kai, Governor of the People's Government of Henan Province, and also attended by Kong Changsheng, Chairman of the Henan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC.
In 2024, ZZULI has received ten awards as the first organization, including two first prizes and eight second prizes. This marks a zero breakthrough in winning the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of Henan Province. After a three-year interval, ZZULI has won the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of Henan Province once again. The institution ranks third in Henan Province for the number of first prizes awarded to presided-over and approved research projects and fifth among provincial universities for the total number of such awards. In addition, ZZULI has won ten prizes as a participating organization, including two first prizes, three second prizes, and five third prizes.
The research project titled Independent Development and Application of the High-performance Circulation System for Slurry Balanced Shield Machines with Prof. Xiao Yanqiu as the first author won the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of Henan Province. It tackles three major problems, which involve the failure of the circulation system's multi-point prevention of slag stagnation under the complex geology, unbalanced matching of multi-stage slag flow velocity, and large cross-section pressure balance regulation instability. The project deliverables have been applied to more than one hundred slurry balanced shield machines, and have provided services for major projects at home and abroad, such as the Shantou Bay Tunnel, the highway tunnel in Poland, and Singapore's Thomson-East Coast Line. Such deliverables have reversed the situation that the circulation system has been restricted by the brands of foreign countries like Germany and Japan, achieving the leapfrog development from being choked to being an industry pacesetter.
The research project titled Design of Porous Fame Materials for Catalytic and Sensing Applications with Prof. Du Miao as the first author received the first prize of the Natural Science Award of Henan Province. The project deliverables have fostered the understanding of the synthesis-structure-property relationship pattern of porous frame materials, expanded their applications, and furnished vital theoretical foundation and methodological basis for the rational construction, functional regulation, performance optimization, and applications of such materials. Such deliverables also have boosted the development of relevant fields and contributed to the realization of national strategic goals including carbon peaking, carbon neutrality and medical and livelihood projects.
Moreover, the project titled Evolutionary Analysis of Memristor-based Neural Networks and Their Brain-inspired Intelligence Applications with Sun Junwei as the first author won the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award of Henan Province. Seven research projects, including Key Technologies and Applications of Stable Control and Optimized Operation of High-proportion New Energy Power System with He Ping as the first author, Common Key Technologies and Applications of Energy Conservation for Small Refrigeration Equipment with Wu Xuehong as the first author, Key Technologies and Applications for the Intelligent Perceptions of Multimodal Behaviors and Emotions with Li Zuhe as the first author, Key Technologies for the Efficient Preparation and Bioconversion of Algal-bacterial Carotenoids into High-value Spices with Wei Tao as the first author, Key Technologies and Industrialization Demonstration of Precise Quality Regulation for Quick-frozen Flour and Rice Food with Zhang Hua as the first author, Key Technologies and Equipment Applications of Phase-change Cold Storage for High-density and Low-energy Consumption Hydrates with Cheng Chuanxiao as the first author, and Key Technologies and Applications of Intelligent Monitoring and Optimization of Territorial Space Featuring the Integration of Multi-source Remote Sensing Images with Huang Wei as the first author, won the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of Henan Province.
In recent years, ZZULI has taken innovation as the logical starting point of development, seized the opportunity of innovation, actively created favorable conditions, and fully mobilized the enthusiasm and creativity of scientific researchers. Under the joint efforts of ZZULI, schools of ZZULI, and the faculty, over the past five years, ZZULI has ranked among the top five universities in the province regarding the number of prizes of the Science and Technology Award of Henan Province won for presided-over and approved research projects. In particular, ZZULI has continuously achieved new breakthroughs in the number of the first prizes, thereby enhancing the capacity for scientific and technological innovation. In the future, ZZULI will thoroughly implement the strategies of innovation-driven development, invigorating Henan through science and education, and strengthening Henan with talent, create a more intense scientific research atmosphere, and vigorously promote the scientific spirit of truth pursuit, rigorous scholarship, and ability and political integrity. To this end, ZZULI is geared up to provide scientific management and service guarantees for scientific researchers to yield original, iterative, and pacesetting scientific and technological fruits, make greater contributions to the high-quality development, and devote itself to realizing high-level science and technology self-reliance and advancing Henan's practice in Chinese modernization.
