School of Public Health
The School of Public Health grew out of the public health discipline of Northwest Medical College, which was established in September 1949. Funded by CMB, the School of Public Health took the lead in carrying out the MPH and DrPH professional degree education pilot programs in 1998 and 2011 in China. They were approved as national "Golden Courses" and "High-level Applied Public Health Talent Training Innovation Projects" by the Ministry of Education of China and the National Health Commission of China.
The school has established crucial national and provincial laboratories and joint research centers with Australia and the UK. It boasts distinctive characteristics and advantages in the treatment of common chronic diseases, the prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases, the treatment of environmental diseases and endemic diseases, nutrition and food safety, maternal and child healthcare and health promotion, global health and sanitation policies, and medical ethics.
The school's research findings have been published in internationally renowned journals, including BMJ, Circulation, Lancet GH and JAMA Pediatr, among others. Some of the school's faculty members have had articles published by F1000Research.
The school has won honors and awards such as the Klaus Schwarz Medal from the International Association of Bioinorganic Scientists, the Shaanxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Special Award, and the first-place prize for the Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Progress Award.
