Dr. Henghua Su is the Director of the Modern Languages Centre and a Senior Associate Professor. Her previous position was an Assistant professor and Chinese Language Programme Coordinator at Indiana University Bloomington in the United States. Dr. Su received multi-disciplinary postgraduate trainings in Chinese, Linguistics and Second Language Teaching. Her research interests are Chinese linguistics, linguistic typology, motivation and dynamic learning. She has supervised a MA programme in Chinese Language Pedagogy for nearly a decade and taught Chinese language and content courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels for sixteen years. Her professional experiences include directing summer programmes in China, serving as a consultant for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) , teaching at University of Wisconsin-Madison and Utah State University, as well as working as a translator and interpreter in linguistics, literature and business sectors.
